Ryker Giggling

If you think accomplishing the perfect Pinterest shoot is simple, obviously hasn't ever tried to stick a four month old in a pumpkin, but I don't think that's necessarily where this post should start. What makes this little boy and pumpkins so special is the fact that a year ago, his parents announced their pregnancy via a "pumpkin carving contest" with friends. This year, there was no pregnancy announcement, but there sure was a pretty epic and wonderful impromptu photoshoot for little Ryker's first Halloween!

Pumpkin holes and tiny toes

It started with a couple of holes. Ryker's mom chopped off the top of the pumpkin and scooped all of the pumpkin guts out. We all sat around the table, elbows deep in pumpkin, trying to decide what exactly we were going to carve when it hit me: "Do you want to stick Ryker in this pumpkin for photos?" His mom agreed and we never looked back! Holes were sliced for the legs while Ryker watched from his stroller. His mom kept turning around saying "Are you gonna sit in this pumpkin?!" to which his only response was giggling.

When it came time to stick him in the pumpkin, we ran into what might possibly be the most adorable problem I have ever encountered in a photoshoot... the holes were too small for his chunky legs! 'No worries,' I thought, 'I can cut the holes bigger!' So I took the carving knife and tried to widen the holes. No luck. Finally, Ryker's dad came out of the room and took the pumpkin carving into his own hands and the impromptu photoshoot was a go!

Ryker was an absolute champ throughout the entire thing (like he always is) and it made for one heck of a photoshoot! It always helps when you have models (and their parents) who are willing to do fun photoshoots! I hope you enjoy Ryker's spooky session as much as I enjoyed shooting it!
